In the Stories & STEM Club, students will dive into engaging picture books that spark curiosity and creativity! Each session begins with a read-aloud of an exciting story, followed by a hands-on STEM/STEAM activity inspired by the book. Whether designing, building, coding, or crafting, students will develop problem-solving skills, teamwork, and innovation while connecting science, technology, engineering, art, and math to literacy.
Weekly Adventures (subject to change):
- Week 1: Snowmen at Night – Build snowball shooters and create pop-up snow globes.
- Week 2: Down the Back of the Chair – Design a chair and illustrate hidden treasures.
- Week 3: Going Places – Design and build a model go-cart.
- Week 4: How to Code a Roller Coaster – Design a theme park ride and code a roller coaster.
- Week 5: The Most Magnificent Thing – Use provided materials to invent something new.
- Week 6: Love, Splatt – Create Valentine’s cards and design Valentine’s Day boxes.
- Week 7: Scaredy Squirrel Goes Camping – Tackle a fun camping-themed teamwork challenge.
- Week 8: What to Do with a Box – Transform a box into something purposeful and creative.
This club combines the magic of storytelling with the excitement of STEM, fostering a love of reading and hands-on discovery!
