Give your Kindergarten and 1st-grade students a head start on their reading journey in Reading Club, where the joy of reading meets the science of learning! This club focuses on mastering foundational skills like phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and comprehension through fun, hands-on activities. With games like rhyming challenges, letter-building exercises, and engaging read-alouds, children will build confidence and develop a lifelong love of reading in an exciting, supportive environment.
Weekly Focus:
- Week 1: Phonemic Awareness – Explore the sounds that make up words through playful listening and sound-matching activities.
- Week 2 & 3: Phonics – Practice connecting letters to their sounds with interactive games and letter blocks.
- Week 4: Fluency – Develop smooth and expressive reading through repetition and short, fun reading exercises.
- Week 5: Vocabulary – Grow their word knowledge with creative and engaging word-play activities.
- Weeks 6-8: Comprehension – Build understanding with stories, discussions, and activities focused on making connections.
With a focus on fun and foundational skills, this club will inspire a love of books and set young readers up for success!
